BUGUENO Jorge

Young pianist Jorge Bugueño has won the first-ever competition launched by the Usach Orchestra to choose the soloist for one of the most remarkable performances of its season: the conclusion of the cycle of Ludwig van Beethoven’s five piano concertos, which has been extended until 2023.

Born in Iquique (Chile) in 2000, Jorge Bugueño began his piano studies at the Escuela Artística Violeta Parra in Iquique. In 2017, he entered the Conservatory of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Chile and began his postgraduate studies in 2019 with Professor Jorge Pepi.

His awards include 2nd place in the X Certamen Flora Guerra and 1st place in the Young Pianists Competition of the Latin American Association of Piano Teachers (ALAPP) in 2019. In 2020, he also won the public competition to be pianist with the National Youth Symphony Orchestra, organised by the Foundation for Youth and Children’s Orchestras.

He has received a national grant from the Friends of the Santiago Municipal Theatre since 2019.

Jorge Bugueno has taken part in various international courses and masterclasses, and has performed in theatres in Santiago and throughout Chile.

His most recent activities include the premiere of Gustav Mahler’s Eighth Symphony, in collaboration with the OSNJ at the Teatro Caupolicán in Chile, and the recent premiere of the opera ‘Estación del canto’ at the Teatro Municipal in Santiago.
