François Dumont is a laureate of the greatest international competitions: the Warsaw Chopin Competition, the Queen Elisabeth Competition and the Monte Carlo Piano Masters. Nominated at the Victoires de la musique awards, he received the Prix de la Révélation de la Critique Musicale Française.
He has appeared as soloist with the Orchestre National de France conducted by François-Xavier Roth, at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Musikverein in Vienna and as soloist on a tour of Japan.
He performs at major festivals in France, Switzerland and Italy.
François Dumont is a member of the Trio Elégiaque, whose 1st recording was awarded a Diapason d’Or.
His discography comprises more than 35 albums, including the complete Mozart Sonatas, the piano works of Ravel, the Beethoven and Schubert Trios, Bach, Chopin, Wagner/Liszt, Fauré, Moussorgsky discs, and the complete Mozart concertos currently in progress with the Orchestre National de Bretagne.
He is a keen chamber musician and works actively with composers such as Bacri, Dusapin, Finzi, Lacaze, Murail and Tanguy. Passionate about transmission and teaching, he is invited to give masterclasses in Europe and Japan.
François Dumont has recently started teaching at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Geneva.
